Language Technologies
As a company that has been closely related to the hi-tech industry from the very start, Continuum has excellent prerequisites for continuous and seamless implementation of technology throughout its processes and activities. But our clients are the ones who benefit the most from our tech-savvy work processes.
Apart from Trados Studio, currently the most widely used CAT tool in the industry, for which Continuum is an authorized regional reseller, we also use a number of other CAT (i.e. computer-assisted translation or computer-aided translation) tools, such as:
Advantages of language technologies
Language technologies are used to create translation memories from translated texts that can then be reused for any future translations. The translation memory grows with the volume of translated content, thus creating savings for any new orders through the comparison of sentences from the previously translated and current content. This creates a long-term relationship between the service provider and the client.
How the process works?
- receiving the document from the client
- document analysis with the application of a translation memory made of previously translated content for the same client
- weighted wordcount calculation
- document translation using the translation memory applied in the analysis phase
- returning the document to its original format and delivering it
What does the matching calculation look like?
Part of the new source content that is 100% matched to the content stored in the translation memory | 30% of the base price (which is valid for content with no matches in the translation memory) |
---|---|
Part of the new source content that is 75 – 99% matched to the content stored in the translation memory | 50% of the base price |
Part of the new source content that is < 75 % matched | 100% of the base price |
EXAMPLE
TRANSLATION WITHOUT A TRANSLATION MEMORY | TRANSLATION WITH A TRANSLATION MEMORY |
---|---|
Excerpt from the court register in 2019. | Excerpt from the court register in 2021. |
Completely new text, no translation memory 0% match = 100% of the base price (per word/page) |
Application of the translation memory created while translating the excerpt from 2019 70 % of the text is a 100% match + 20% of the text is a 75 – 99% match + 10% of the text is a 0% match = 41% of the base price You save: 59% |
